The fifth edition of Madeira Micro Film Festival will again take place at Cine Sol, a wonderful Art Deco cinema nestled atop a cliff. The cinema, which is almost 100 years old with spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean is located in the sleepy, seaside village of “Ponta Do Sol”, on the volcanic island of Madeira. The village and its surroundings evoke culturally rich days gone by, preserved like a ghost town, with a mystical air eerily reminiscent of something out of the work of Lynch or Cronenberg.
The festival will feature challenging, fantastic and surreal films, a landscape to match and spring temperatures in December. With a limited capacity of 150 guests, this intimate and unique Festival is set to be a magical and adventurous experience for cineastes.
The MMiFF is a fantastic festival for creative, international and auteur cinema with an artistic claim. We present fantastic and surreal films from all over the world. There will be after show parties with live performances and cinematic Dj Sets on the first and the last night of the Festival at the cinema’s bar. All nights, you can enjoy the cinema’s roof top terrace, which offers a beautiful view over the Ocean and the village of Ponta do Sol.
