The MMiFF features challenging, fantastic and surreal films, a landscape to match and spring temperatures in December. With a limited capacity of 200 guests, this intimate and unique Festival is set to be a magical and adventurous experience for cineastes.
After successfully launching the Madeira Micro Film Festival in 2012, this December the MMiFF will once again take place on the volcanic island of Madeira. This beautiful Portuguese island, celebrated as a paradise island and floating garden is located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean – only two flight hours away from Lisbon and with direct flights from all the major European capitals like Berlin, Paris and London.
The MMiFF is a fantastic festival for creative, international auteur cinema with an artistic claim beyond genre boundaries. With a limited capacity of 200 participants all accommodated in the same village and with only two screenings per night, the MMiFF offers filmmakers and guests enough time and space for exchange and discourse.
The films will be shown in the oldest cinema on the island, the 80 years old Art Deco cinema „Cine Sol“, and the modern John Dos Passos Cultural Centre. Both venues are located in the coastal village of Ponta Do Sol, with only three minutes walking distance from each other and the affiliate hotels.
Following six exciting years the MMiFF has established itself as a popular and successful festival, so far with screenings from 22 different countries. Next to our feature film premieres, we screen a selection of European short films; all of our films in 2017 were national premieres.
